SIMON KENT
- In Another Life -

Portsmouth based Simon Kent releases his album, “In Another Life ” in May 2011.

Simon has created a beautiful collection of emotionally charged songs which lay bare the fragility of an artist singing from the heart.  Songs that lift the soul and take the listener on an unpredictable journey of emotional experiences.

Recorded between February 2009 and November 2010, the album was produced by long time friend Jon Callender, and includes contributions from the jazz (Giorgio Li Calzi - trumpet), classical (Timothy Drysdale - piano) and pop worlds; all of which blend seamlessly with Simon's sensitive, emotive vocals.

The opening track, “Where I Stand” , is a genuine anthem - an ambient pop-rock statement of intent. “ Spirit Of Eden”-era Talk Talk is recalled in “Over The World” - an apocalyptic hymn in an unusual time signature with Simon's dreamy vocals set against pulsing bass and shimmering guitars. Pop songwriting doesn't get much bigger than the orchestral, string-drenched “You Saved Me”, and the ballad “We Say Goodbye” is an epic lament to a lost relationship.

The work of artists like Kate Bush, Brian Eno, Elbow, Sigur Ros and Zero 7 is brought to mind in more atmospheric, ambient songs covering subjects such as alienation (“Are You Receiving Me?”), life's stolen moments (“Give Me Back That Moment”) and alcoholism (“Playing With Fire”).
